Russia’s share in global buckwheat production
Russia is a world leader in buckwheat production, providing about 30% of the total global production. In 2022, approximately 800 thousand tons of buckwheat were harvested in Russia.
Buckwheat is an important agricultural crop that is used both in the food industry and for animal feed. Its high nutritional value and resistance to adverse climatic conditions make it popular among farmers.
In recent years, there has been a growing interest in buckwheat as a healthy alternative to traditional cereals. This also contributes to an increase in its production in Russia.
Saratov region’s share in total buckwheat production in Russia
The Saratov region occupies a significant place in the production of buckwheat in Russia, accounting for about 7% of the total production in the country. This makes it one of the leading regions for the production of buckwheat.
Together with other regions such as the Altai Territory, Siberia, and Central Russia, the Saratov Region contributes significantly to the country’s total buckwheat production.
The region is actively developing technologies of buckwheat cultivation, which allows to increase the yield and quality of products.
Thus, the Saratov region plays an important role in the production of buckwheat in Russia, contributing both to the economic development of the region and to meeting the needs for this crop at the federal level.
