Safflower
Russia ranks second in the world in safflower production, accounting for about 22% of the total world volume. The main regions where this crop is grown are Saratov, Volgograd and Rostov regions.
In 2022, Russia produced about 222.62 thousand tons of safflower, which confirms its status as one of the world’s leading producers of this crop.
The Saratov region is one of the leading regions for growing safflower. In recent years, about 50-60 thousand hectares of land have been allocated for this crop. This makes the region one of the main producers of safflower in the country, along with the Volgograd and Astrakhan regions.
The Saratov region produces up to 20% of all Russian safflower, but exact figures may vary depending on the yield and weather conditions in a particular year.
