Grain harvesting has begun

In 2024, it was a hot time for farmers in the Saratov region. By July 11, 290 thousand hectares of winter grain crops had been threshed, and 536 tons of new crops had already been harvested. The average yield was 18.5 centners per hectare.

Natalya Shumkova, head of the department of crop production development of the regional Ministry of Agriculture, shared: “In one day we thresh more than 50 thousand hectares and threshed about 100 thousand tons of grain.”

The highest yield - 30 centners per hectare - was shown by grain growers in the Balakovo, Dukhovnitsky and Marksovsky municipal districts. The Pugachevsky, Engelssky and Ershovsky districts especially distinguished themselves, where farmers threshed 69 thousand tons, 63 thousand tons and 52 thousand tons, respectively.

In addition, spring grain harvesting has already begun in the Dukhovnitsky district. The first 184 hectares of peas have already been harvested.
