Saratov Region Ranked 2nd in the Volga Federal District by Agricultural Production Volume in 2025
At the end of 2025, the Saratov Region ranked second in the Volga Federal District in terms of agricultural production volume. This was announced by Acting Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government and Minister of Agriculture Vasily Kotov at a meeting of the regional Government chaired by Governor Roman Busargin.
The Saratov Region has traditionally remained among the leading agricultural regions of the Volga Federal District. According to preliminary data, about 5.4 million tons of grain crops were harvested in the region in 2025, securing 1st place in the Volga Federal District and 7th place in Russia. High results were also achieved in sunflower, soybean, and sugar beet production, while horticulture continues to develop.
Among the key drivers of this positive performance are the increasing technological level of the sector, growth in the use of mineral fertilizers, technical modernization of the agro-industrial complex, and continued development of breeding and seed production within the framework of import substitution policy.
Priority areas for further development include livestock farming, implementation of investment projects, expansion of agricultural raw material processing within the region, and strengthening the workforce capacity of the sector. In 2025, wages in the regional agro-industrial complex increased by more than 17% compared to 2024.
In addition, in 2026 the region will continue implementing measures under the state program for integrated rural development, including housing construction, improvement of small settlements, and development of social infrastructure facilities.
