Saratov farmers sowed 2 million hectares of spring crops

Саратовские аграрии посеяли 2 млн га яровых культур

Saratov farmers have reached an important stage in the spring sowing campaign, having sowed more than 2 million hectares of spring crops. On May 22, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government and Minister of Agriculture Roman Kovalsky announced that 2 million 70 thousand hectares of spring crops had been sown in the region, which is 73% of the previously planned volume. Of this total area, the grain group occupies 912 thousand hectares (82%), and industrial crops are sown on 1 million 114 thousand hectares (68%).

The municipal districts of Arkadaksky, Krasnokutsky, Petrovsky and Romanovsky became leaders in the 2024 sowing campaign, having completed spring sowing. Also, the Rtishchevsky, Dukhovnitsky, Sovetsky and St. Petersburg districts are in the final stage of spring sowing work.

The total area of spring sowing is expected to reach about 2.9 million hectares. Kowalski emphasized that difficult weather conditions did not affect the pace of work in the fields. He assessed the progress of the sowing campaign as rhythmic, with sowing up to 100 thousand hectares per day. The task remains to carry out agricultural work in the optimal time frame, but Kovalsky is confident that the region’s farmers will cope with this task.
