First million tons of grain harvested

On July 15, the first million tons of grain for the 2024 harvest were harvested in the Saratov region. As of this date, the gross harvest amounted to 1,118 thousand tons with an average yield of 19.1 centners per hectare. 583 thousand hectares of winter crops were harvested, which is 50% of the total area.

The leader in yield in the region was the Pugachevsky district, which has already exceeded the 100 thousand tons mark and collected 114.9 thousand tons of grain. The top five districts with the largest gross harvest also include: Engels - 103.3 thousand tons; Ershovsky - 80.7 thousand tons; Fedorovsky - 66 thousand tons; Krasnokutsky - 82.1 thousand tons.

The highest yields are observed in the Novoburassky district (32 centners per hectare), Turkovsky district (30.3 centners per hectare) and Balakovo district (27.9 centners per hectare).

In addition to harvesting winter crops, in some areas spring barley, peas, lentils, as well as winter mustard and camelina are harvested.

According to forecasts, in 2024 it is planned to receive from 3.5 to 4 million tons of grain. Governor Roman Busargin expressed his deep gratitude to everyone who works in the fields and helps ensure food security not only in the Saratov region, but throughout the country.
