Harvesting campaign: achievements and results

By August 5, Saratov agricultural producers had harvested grain and leguminous crops from more than half of the area. A total of 1,495,900 hectares were harvested, which is 62.2% of the total plan. As a result, 2,741,900 tons of grain were obtained.
The largest gross harvest was recorded in the farms of Ekaterinovsky, Pugachevsky, Ershovsky, Engelssky, Balashovsky, Krasnokutsky and Fedorovsky districts. The highest grain yield was noted in the Arkadak region - 25.3 centners per hectare.
Harvesting of other crops is also underway. Wheat was threshed on an area of ​​1,414,900 hectares, which is 85.9% of the total plan. A total of 2,398,600 tons of grain were received, and the average yield was 17 centners per hectare. Lentils were harvested from 65.3% of the area, yielding 90,300 tons of crop with an average yield of 9.8 centners per hectare. Barley was threshed on 51.1% of the area, 146,800 tons of grain were harvested, and the yield was 13.7 centners per hectare.
Open ground vegetables were collected from an area of ​​1,800 hectares, the total harvest amounted to 30,500 tons. The average vegetable yield reached 230.9 centners per hectare. 2,400 tons of potatoes were dug up with a yield of 154.9 centners per hectare.
More than 6,000 grain harvesters, 2,800 windrowers, 1,100 balers and other agricultural equipment are involved in the harvesting campaign. This year, the region's agricultural machinery fleet was replenished with 94 new grain harvesters and 223 tractors.
The total cultivated area in the Saratov region in 2024 exceeded 4.2 million hectares. Cereals and leguminous crops are located on 2.4 million hectares, industrial crops - on 1.7 million hectares (including sunflower - on 1.5 million hectares), vegetables and melons - on 19,600 hectares.
According to preliminary forecasts, the grain harvest in the Saratov region in 2024 will be about 4.5 million tons, sunflower - 1.9 million tons, vegetable and melon crops - 335 thousand tons. The region fully provides itself with agricultural products and sends them to other regions of Russia.
