Rye in the Saratov region: numbers and facts
In 2024, 37.9 thousand hectares of agricultural land were allocated for winter rye in the region, covering 33 municipal districts. The largest areas under this crop were concentrated in the Krasnoarmeysky, Rivne and Balakovo regions.

The Krasnoarmeysky municipal district became the leader in the gross harvest of rye, collecting 9.3 thousand tons. This became possible thanks to the effective use of modern agricultural technologies and high-quality seeds of local selection.

Domestic selection seeds are the basis for success
Particular attention in the region is paid to the development of seed production. More than 99% of the seeds used for sowing are produced in Russia, and 99.8% of them are varieties of Saratov selection, such as “Saratovskaya 7”, “Saratovskaya 10” and “Marusenka”.

“The Saratov region is an important center for the production of winter and spring rye seeds not only for our region, but also for other constituent entities of the Russian Federation. We are proud that our farmers use mainly domestic seeds, which helps strengthen the country’s food security,” said Roman Kovalsky, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government, Minister of Agriculture of the Saratov Region.

Development prospects
The successes of the Saratov region in the production of rye emphasize its importance in the agricultural sector of Russia. The region continues to invest in agricultural development, the introduction of innovative technologies and support for local producers. This allows us not only to maintain our leading position, but also to set new ambitious goals for further growth.

The Saratov region remains a reliable partner for other regions of the country, providing them with high-quality seeds and agricultural products. The region's contribution to the development of Russia's agricultural complex continues to grow, strengthening its position at the federal level.
