More than 4 million tons of grain were harvested in the Saratov region, said Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Agriculture Roman Kovalsky.

“Having threshed over 100 thousand tons of grain over the past 24 hours, by August 16, the region’s farmers had collected 4 million 25 thousand tons with an average yield of 25.9 c/ha. In total, over 1 million 554 thousand hectares have been threshed in the region - 66.5% of the area,” noted the deputy chairman.

The highest yield - 43.8 c/ha - was recorded in the Balashovsky district. More than 100 thousand tons of grain were threshed in 15 municipalities: today the grain growers of the Ivanteevsky district joined the regions with a population of one hundred thousand. Five districts show a gross harvest of more than 200 thousand tons.

“The total storage capacity of elevator and warehouse types in the region, taking into account the own grain storage facilities of agricultural producers, is 7.2 million tons. There are 410 grain dryers in the region for drying grains and oilseeds. The technical base of the elevator complex allows you to receive up to 120 thousand tons of grain per day, dry more than 50 thousand tons, ship more than 100 thousand tons to railway and road transport, and up to 12 thousand tons of grain to water transport,” added Kovalsky.
