This year, due to the additional input of reclaimed land, an increase in the area under corn is expected. Deputy Chairman of the Government - Minister of Agriculture Roman Kovalsky spoke about this at a permanent meeting with Acting Governor Roman Busargin.
As of May 16, 93.8 thousand hectares of crops were sown (52.2% of the plan). In eight districts of the region, as the deputy chairman said, sowing of spring wheat has been completed. These are Engelssky, Krasnokutsky, Ivanteevsky, Petrovsky, Kalininsky, Aleksandrovo-Gaisky, Tatishchevsky, Dergachevsky municipal districts.
In total, 170.9 thousand hectares were sown with wheat (76% of the plan), including durum varieties - 67.5 thousand hectares.
Sowing of barley was completed in Petrovsky, Novoburassky, Lysogorsky, Saratov, Tatishchevsky, Krasnokutsky, Rivne, Turkovsky, Kalininsky, Pugachevsky, Dergachevsky, Pitersky districts.
A total of 234.3 thousand hectares (90% of the plan) were sown with barley. In total, by May 16, spring crops in the region had been sown on an area of 1 million 295 thousand hectares, or 45.5% of the plan.
