Sowing of early spring crops has been completed in the Saratov region

At the moment, more than 1.8 million hectares have already been sown in the Saratov region, which is over 60 percent of the sown area. The sown area remained at the level of last year and is equal to 4.2 million hectares, while 85 percent of the planned grain has already been sown. Industrial crops and vegetables are sown by half and approximately 60 percent, respectively. Successful winter weather and the absence of frost contributed to the safety of crops up to 97 percent. More than 93 percent of grain seeds used by local farmers are domestic, including more than 60 percent of Saratov selection. 160 thousand tons of fertilizers were purchased in the region, which is 2.5 times higher than the volume of purchases of mineral fertilizers over the past five years. During the record harvest years, 7 million tons of grain and 2.3 million tons of sunflower were harvested. Currently, weather conditions are favorable for the development of agricultural crops, which will allow obtaining a good harvest and achieving the goal of ensuring food security. The sowing campaign is planned to be completed by June 1, subject to favorable weather conditions.
